| User Comments: | This is the main wax I use, as I make 3 inch wide pillars and votives. It works very well.
When I make votives, I use 36-24-24 cotton core wicks. Besides the usual trimming, this wax burns exceptionally nice. If I put a good amount of dye in the wax, then it burns slowly with little mushrooming on the wick.
When I use it to make pure soy pillars, I find the 60 ply flat braided wick actually works. Yes, I must be careful when burning the candle, to gently hug the rim in when there's a half inch lip or so. Soy wax is hard to use to make a pillar, but this wax does a great job. To make the pillar burn better, I premake chunks of accompanying scents beforehand, fill the mold with them, and then pour the soywax over. This make a candle that folds in nicely and doesn't waste wax.
I recommend this to anyone who's tired of container candles because it does work. Just make sure to buy the right sized wicking.
Oh, I almost forgot. When I make a 3 inch wide pillar, the scent throw is amazing because the heat index at the flame is fairly high. It's worth the trouble. |
