Well, it’s official. I’ve closed the phpBB forum portion of the Scent Forum site. It never seemed to gain much momentum and wasn’t one of the more popular parts of the Scent Forum website. Unfortunately, I never seemed to have time in my schedule to work on adding new posts or to build a community, so I blame myself for the non success of the forum.

In addition, during the past month or so, spammers began mercilessly spamming the forum, and it became hard to keep up with deleting the spam posts and maintaining the joint registration system. If you have registered on the site within the past month or so, you may have noticed some issues with logging into your account. If this is the case, I apologize.  I tried to keep everything straight, but spam accounts were registered at such a pace that it was difficult to prune out the bad accounts, which sometimes overwrote good accounts. The registration system should be good to go now, so if you had any problems you can register a new account and shouldn’t have any problems.

Supplier News Blog

I’ve also decided to dedicate this blog portion of the site to community news and announcements, instead of using it to post supplier sales and specials. I would’ve loved to have kept up the sale and special postings, but again it was just too time intensive for my schedule. In the near future, I’m hoping to provide a more automated means for suppliers and site visitors to post sales.

Once these changes are made, my goal is to concentrate more on the core of the site, which is adding new fragrance oils and fragrance oil information to the Scent Forum site. Keep those reviews coming!

I’m so excited to announce that Lynda at Fragrance Oil Central (http://www.fragranceoilcentral.com), located in Wisconsin’s beautiful northwoods, has purchased the exclusive rights to my fragrance oil formulas. Lynda has been a long time customer of mine and has been in the candle/bath and body industry for many years. So I know she will provide excellent customer service and adhere to the strict standards I’ve set both with my fragrance oil formulas as well as with any new oils she decides to add.

Lynda plans to order some of the best sellers this week and will do her best to accommodate everyone. Although her new website isn’t completely done, you can visit Fragrance Oil Central and watch for updates or contact her to check the status of the fragrance oils or make any requests.

The fragrance oil formulas I sold to Fragrance Oil Central are 100% unique to her company and have not been and never will be made available to any other company or person. So if you want the original A Scent Shop (AKA Scents for Soy) high quality fragrance oils, then you’ll need to order from her.

After owning and operating A Scent Shop (A.K.A. Scents for Soy) for the last 4 years, I have decided to call it quits.

As you can imagine this wasn’t a decision I reached easily. I have poured my heart and soul into this business and have had a lot of fun doing so. It’s been exciting to watch it grow over the years! I’ve made a lot of friends through the business and while it will be hard to walk away, I just think this is for the best as my other interests and responsibilities are demanding more and more of my time.

My life has taken a very positive turn in the last year and that turn has put me on a path that is leading me in a completely different direction that makes it difficult to devote the attention this business requires of me. I don’t like to do anything half-heartedly, but I have found that in the last year my heart isn’t in the business the way it should be.

This business itself is NOT for sale; however, I’m selling the intellectual property belonging to my business (as listed below). I have worked long and hard developing fragrance oil formulas that I have offered over the years and I would hate to see my hard work go to waste. My main goal right now is to find a buyer who would allow my oils to continue to be available to my customers. As customers of A Scent Shop, you know that I have worked hard to make sure I had unique, high quality oils that were tested extensively in soy, other candle waxes, and also most were tested in CP soap. I am proud of my fragrance oils and know they will do well for whomever gets them.

If my fragrance oil formulas do not sell as a package, I will consider selling them to various individuals, but it would be ideal if they would sell to one person. This would be a perfect way to add on to your existing candle/soap business! As a user of the fragrance oils you’d be able to save money by purchasing your oils direct from the manufacturer while selling off the excess for profit. Purchasing my fragrance oil formulas would also be wonderful if you already own a fragrance oil business as you can expand your fragrance oil line with fragrance oils that have a positive reputation of being of the highest quality and performing well in many applications. This would be a win-win situation!
